The VJC returns to The Nash! 
(Two Shows)

The Valley Jazz Cooperative presents two matinee shows at The Nash, featuring three different student ensembles.

Taking the stage first, the West Valley Jazz Cooperative Cerulean Big Band, a 14-piece ensemble comprised of exceptional west side music students in grades 8 through 12, performs a set featuring works by notable big band writers including Neal Hefti and Oliver Nelson. A number of duo performances will also be featured as part of the event. The band is directed by Russell Schmidt.

Time: 01:00 pm – 2:20 pm

Tickets for the 01:00 pm performance are priced at $15, $5 Students (25 & under w/ ID) and are available at https://thenash.org/event/west-valley-jazz-cooperative/

Later in the day, the East Valley Jazz Cooperative Sapphire Ensemble (directed by Paul Brewer) and the Indigo Big Band (led by Russell Schmidt) share a program at The Nash. The Sapphire Ensemble (a nonet) will perform West Coast/Cool Jazz classics, while the Indigo Big Band (18 pieces) will perform music by Duke Ellington and Bill Holman. EVJC ensembles feature outstanding east side music students in grades 8 through 12.

Time: 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm
