A New Need For The Little Ones Of Belarus

Hi Friends

Well, summer is over, and……drum-roll…… we have a project at one of my favorite places; the Children’s Wing at Ushachi Hospital. We have received a request from our friend Dr. Sergei for help.

When I was there earlier in May, we walked through the children's area and he showed me cribs, mattresses and bed linens that had been patched and repaired beyond reason.

He has created a list of immediate needs with prices for each item.

I would like to share it with you, and request that you pray and consider if you are to be a part of this project. 🙏

  • Mattresses
    (10) Ten needed @ $75.00 ea. Total $750.00
  • Bedspreads:
    (10) Ten needed @ $20.00 ea. Total $200.00
  • Crib linen/accessories:
    (30) Thirty needed @ $20.00 ea. Total $600.00
  • Crib Blankets:
    (10) Ten needed @ $20.00 ea. Total $200.00
  • Children's Inhalers:
    (5) Five needed @ $60.00 ea. Total $300.00
  • Two small refrigerators:
    (1) One with a freezer and (1) one without needed @ $150.00 ea. Total $300.00
  • Television for Children's playroom:
    (1) One @ $750.00

The project total is $3,100.00

A gift of ANY amount is much appreciated. You can also purchase a single item or multiple items on the list.... a blanket... or mattress... or one or more of each!

However your heart leads—and if you are not to be a part, please pray that God will bring those who are supposed to help with these needs. PASS IT ON! We want to give everyone the opportunity to make these kids smile!

Thank you for your continued prayer for the people of Belarus. I'm excited for the hope these children will know because of your love and support. 💕

Hi Friends,

I just received this email from our friend Doug Brendel who provides humanitarian aid to Belarus and who introduced me to this amazing country.
I was unable to travel to Belarus for the  arrival of the endoscope, but Doug happened to be there so I asked him to make the delivery for us. I didn’t want the doctors to wait any longer.
The following is an excerpt from his newsletter. We are blessed to help each other as we help the people of Belarus.

My comments are in italics.

Could your love create a hospital “happy place”?

If your child is going to get sick in Belarus, Ushachi (pronounced oo-SHAH-chee) may be the best place for it.
Here, 45 miles from the Russian border, friends of New Thing built a beautiful playroom in the regional hospital.(A certificate of thanks to New Thing hangs at the playroom door.)

After New Thing provided the initial construction, MSW helped finish the project by adding the couch, TV, Video equipment, small furniture, toys and video games.
Hospitalization is upsetting for any child, and the child’s parents — but a playroom eases the stress.

Over the past several years, hundreds of children and families have enjoyed this room.
The Ushachi hospital serves all ages, and New Thing has supported the staff here for a long time.
Now, we’ve also had the joy of facilitating donations from another group, Music Serving the Word (MSW).

They recently provided urgently needed kitchenware and equipment (shown off by our Response of the Heart leader “The Great Kozovaya”).
And MSW’s Vicki McDermitt spent two years searching for a donated child-sized endoscope. Until now, children needing endoscopic procedures in this hospital either had to go without — or endure the adult-sized scope.

It was our enormous privilege to deliver this critically important piece of hardware on MSW’s behalf. The staff were deeply grateful.
Thank you Doug for delivering this much-needed equipment to the doctors!
Blessings and thanks for your prayers and support,

P.S. God is doing exciting things in Belarus and we will let you know about our next adventure soon. Winter is coming so the needs are great. Stay tuned!

That Day Has Come! The endoscope has arrived, and just in time.

In my last communication I mentioned that I was excited for the day to come when the endoscope would be presented to Dr Sergei of Ushachi Hospital. (Read about the endoscope's incredible journey here)

Drum roll………..
That day has come!

Ludmilla Kozovaya traveled to Ushachi Hospital and delivered the endoscope to the good doctor. He’s a happy man!

Here are some pictures of that exciting day. We can’t imagine what this gift means to the healers at this little hospital. Although I was sad not to be there for the delivery, I’m grateful to God and to all of you who helped us get this much needed equipment to them.  Read More...

The endoscope is finally on its way!

... When the ship arrived, I received an emergency message from our partner Ludmilla Kozovaya saying the endoscope wasn’t there.

You can imagine my dismay. I took a deep breath and reminded myself that although the endoscope was lost to me at that moment, it wasn’t lost to God. He knew where it was.  Read more...

Meet Yuri and Olga. Supporting those who support others.

We can't let them fall through the cracks!  A touching story of one extraordinary couple making a difference in the lives of desperate children in a little village called Ruzhany, Belarus.

One day, Olga and her mother were discussing the increase of orphaned and abandoned children in their village. (This upturn in abandoned children is mostly due to alcoholism leading to neglect.) Olga's mother told her "You are wealthy; you have enough to make a child happy, you could take at least one child."

Twenty-three children later... Yuri and Olga are a shining example of God's love to their community. God has called them to care for these children and we are blessed to support them.  READ MORE about their need...
