Anthony Payton
Anthony Payton

Anthony Payton, a native of Leesville, Louisiana, was raised in the church sitting next to his mother while she sang and played the piano. Following in his mother's footsteps Anthony would bang on the piano as often as he could. He quickly developed a love for music. Anthony continued to play the songs he loved and since there was no one to sing the songs he started singing them himself. Wanting to show his accomplishments to band mates, he would play the songs he learned. Anthony wasn't versed in playing melodies of the songs therefore he had to sing the songs for the songs to recognizable. Friends and classmates would compliment him on his vocal ability which encouraged Anthony to sing more.

Carl Herrgesell
Carl Herrgesell

Carl Herrgesell  is featured on the latest Psalms Reborn release

At age 19 Carl went to ASU and studied jazz piano with Chuck Marohnic. In many ways, this CD is the fruit of that relationship which began over 20 years ago.
At the age of 26, like many aspiring musicians, Nashville would be the next move for Carl.  It was in Nashville where Carl met another successful artist, producer Chris Rodriguez, known then for his work with Amy Grant.  It would be Chris who eventually recommended Carl for a position in Kenny Loggin’s band.  Along with Kenny, Carl has been given many opportunities to work with an array of talented artists including Chris Rodriguez, Tommy Sims, Craig Young, Twila Paris, Kathy Troccoli, Dan Needham, Chris McHugh, David Meade, Elton John, LeAnn Rimes, Nicole C. Mullen, Todd Collins, DC Talk, Peter Collins, Israel Houghton, the Ragamuffins, Michael McDonald, Maurice White, Earth, Wind and Fire, and Aaron Smith.

Lesley McFerron
Lesley McFerron

Lesley McFerron is featured in Psalms Reborn's latest video release "Our Stronghold" inspired by Psalm 94.

Lesley started working professionally at age 16, when she was cast in two productions at a Paramount theme park. Then she had the honor of being cast as a soloist in a production at the world renowned Actor’s Theatre of Louisville. Her 25-year career as a professional singer has taken many directions. She started formal training at the Youth Performing Arts High School in Louisville, Kentucky where she was a Theatre and Vocal Performance major.  During her four years there, she performed leading roles in show choir, musical theatre, and drama productions.

After studying Theatre at Northern Kentucky University, many of her fellow performers went on to pursue work in theatre. However, Lesley decided to pursue a career in Country music. She had some amazing experiences working as a demo singer for big-time Nashville songwriters and as a professional back-up singer in the studio, on the road, and at special events.

Lesley formed award-winning gospel trio SoulReal in 2002.  She recorded three cd’s with the group.  They scored a top 10 hit on gospel radio and were featured performers for several nationwide arena events.  SoulReal was invited to sing the National Anthem at a special event with President George W. Bush.  Lesley says, "It's a surreal moment meeting and shaking hands with a United States President!”

(previously titled The Jazz Psalms)

Carol Rogers was born in Omaha, Nebraska. She graduated from Central High School in 1972 and afterwards attended UNL. Her mother, Jeanne Rogers, also a CHS alumnus, Educator, and Administrator, had always been a prominent musician in the Omaha jazz scene. Affected by her influence, Carol's career is an eclectic display of genres, styles, and cultures as it has afforded her world tours, television appearances in numerous countries, and recording experiences with the world's greatest musicians.  Her first recording contract in 1973 was for Steak City Records, an Omaha based company, wherein she performed her original songs in R&B and Country (using the name Carla Proud - honoring Charlie Pride).

Growing up in Omaha in a musical home provided the perfect surrounding to develop and showcase Carol's young talent. Besides appearances in CHS's Roadshows during her high school career, Carol and her talented brothers often performed for the Omaha Parks and Recreation summer mini-festivals called Show Wagons, and Beverly Blackburn's Talent Shows at the Omaha Civic Auditorium, and numerous appearances at North Omaha's Allen's Showcase. At fourteen, her first television appearance was on a weekly show on KETV called "Black on Black".  Eventually, even in Omaha, Carol found her way into the world-celebrated company of Grammy Award Winner Chip Davis (Mannheim Steamroller, C.W. McCall), providing background vocals for Davis's innumerable recording live shows, sessions, and including his local and national commercials.

Destined to continue to be in the best of musical company, in the mid-seventies, Carol Rogers, left Omaha to begin touring the world with Brazilian superstar Sergio Mendes, appearing in lead and background capacity for 25 years and in a total of twelve of his releases, including Mendes's 1994 Grammy Award winning "Brasileiro".  Per his introduction, Carol has worked for the stars: Stevie WonderOscar Castro NevesGerry MulliganDave GrusinDionne WarwickLee RitenourDjavan,  Japanese saxophonist Sadao Watanabe, Brazilian composer Eumir Deodato (2001 Space OdysseyKool and the Gang). She has  performed alongside Brazilian Grammy Award Winners Gilberto Gil (she's credited with English translations for two of his songs) and Dori Caymmi. She recorded for Ivan Lins and Grammy Award winning producer Antonio "Moogie" Canazio for whom she still arranges and performs background vocals. Carol's voice was featured in three songs in the movie entitled "Bossa Nova" starring Amy Irving. She has also recorded for Don Davis (music producer of "The Matrix"), specifically, the film starring Leonardo DiCaprio entitled "Antitrust".  Carol has also worked alongside the young Brazilian superstar team Sandy&Junior, and mega-popular Mexican girl-group Flans (Hadas). Carol Rogers's jazz 1999 release with Swedish star/pianist Monica Dominique entitled So Nice continues to draw favorable reviews throughout all of Scandinavia, garnering a consistent four or five star rating.

In 2011, while visiting her Omaha hometown, Carol was introduced to pianist-composer, Chuck Marohnic.   This eventually led to her becoming the featured vocalst on the CD album, "The Jazz Psalms", released in 2013.   Carol believes this project to be her most melodious, drawing upon her roots of gospel, jazz and blues. Carol states, "I was initially asked to sing a five song demo for Chuck through MSW, and now it's become a full solo album, video, and tours!  Working with Chuck places me in the tutelage of a Maestro again. He is such a gifted composer and friend. His challenges for me are my opportunities to grow, and his compliments mean that God has blessed something!"

Also, these days Carol Rogers is reconnecting with her extensive international network, preparing to tour and teach in Europe, Asia, and South America.  She has added to her music outreach her coveted vocal technique lessons. Among her growing roster of star students: Cheryl Chase, Angelica of the "Rugrats", TC Carson of "Living Single", and American Idol sensation Latoya London,  K.C. Musmecci of the rock group Korn, and Q'Orianka Kilcher who played Pocahantas in the film "The New World." Superstars Natalia Kukulska (Poland) , In Soon Yi  (Korea), Pin Ying Chen (Taiwan), and fashion designer Alishar (Russia) literally sing Carol's praises!
